Candidate 1 - Stall opposite Hoe Kee Chicken Rice Ball Outlet. Shop ran by a Malay guy and is decorated with Coke bottles. Price RM2.00.

Candidate 2 - Jonker Street 88 Shop. Priced at RM 1.70.
Candidate 3 - The famous Clock Tower Cendol. Not along Jonker Street but near there la. And with the reputation as the best Cendol in Malacca, must be tested also. RM1.40.

Verdict: Tasted the gula Melaka, but not very flavourful.
Melaka Cendol is looking bad. Three out of three. Fortunately we went to the Friday Jonker Street Night Market to have a look and is attracted to a stall.
Candidate 4 - Shop besides Jonker Street 88. Night business only. Tested their Durian Cendol. RM3.00.

Turns out to be a winner,

The secret, IMHO, the tonnes of Gula Melaka they put into the desert. And the added durian puree is so fragrant.

Still, I will take Penang Cendol any time.
